GEORGE DAY TOUR
10am to 2pm (ish)
George is my favourite Beatle and celebrating his birthday week with a George-ous tour is an absolute labour of love. The last time we did this was 2003. It's time to do it again! I always keep a few surprises under my hat, but rest assured that this will be the most in-depth tour of Hari's Liverpool you can take. Nothing serious - Its a party all the way while we meander the streets of Liverpool visiting many many places relevant to our Sweet George. Music, laughter, sweets, Indian things, Trees.....all that stuff and more
NOTE: Buffet lunch is now at a secret location en route
"If you dont know where you're going...any road will take you there"
Mantra of my tours!
2pm to 6pm or late as you like!
The Jacaranda Legend looms large in Beatles history. They painted here, they played here, they ate bacon butties here, and they left from here to go to Hamburg.
Sadly The Jac has been closed and empty for over two years. The doors re-open on 6th November 2014 to the sounds of up and coming Liverpool Bands....but the first big Beatle Event is being saved until our George Day. Amongst the famous murals by the Art College Dissenters we will rock and roll at the long awaited comeback of Beatleweek heroes The Prelliies.
By 1962 the Beatles had smashed their way through to become a sensation in Liverpool and on the Hamburg Reeperbhan. A multitude of performances in the Casbah, The Cavern, The Iron Door, The Indra The Kaiserkeller, Top Ten and The Star Club had created a wild rock n roll act it was just impossible to follow...
What did they sound like back then? before Beatlemania took hold, before Brian Epstein put them in suits? Before George Martin groomed their sound for chart success?
they sounded like...
(except not as good)*
*some or all of the above may not be true. The Prellies definitely play rock'n'roll though, of the 1950's to 1962 vintage"
During the day we will raise money for Brain Cancer Research. This will resonate with George Fans but it is also a charity close to my heart, My son in law John has been tirelessly raising funds for the charity on behalf of his father Rob Parry who is currently battling the disease. By the time we celebrate George Day our grandson will have arrived, its an exciting year for the family, so keep on fighting Rob!
